I'll be streaming as much of UF as possible. Every Week, the live games, replays, Gator Zone, and the coach's shows will be posted right here (post#1). DO NOT REQUEST STREAMS- house rules. Lord willin' and the creeks don't rise, I'll get it all on- all season. Just check this post, my channel 420TV2 240k , and the NCAA forum. Thanks and encouragement are really appreciated!

420TV2 is a 240k stream; not the prettiest out there, but it is VERY steady. Thanks for reading all this!

Planning for the college football season in the South is radically different than up North.
For those who are planning a football trip South, here are some helpful hints.

Women’s Accessories:
NORTH: Chap Stick in back pocket and a $20 bill in the front pocket.
SOUTH: Louis Vuitton duffel with two lipsticks, waterproof mascara, and a fifth of bourbon.
Stadium Size:
NORTH: College football stadiums hold 20,000 people.
SOUTH: High school football stadiums hold 20,000 people.

Fathers:
NORTH: Expect their daughters to understand Sylvia Plath.
SOUTH: Expect their daughters to understand pass interference, false start, blitz, i.e.

Campus Decor:
NORTH: Statues of founding fathers.
SOUTH: Statues of Heisman trophy winners.

Homecoming Queen:
NORTH: Also a physics major.
....................SOUTH: Also Miss America .
Heroes:
NORTH: Rudy Giuliani
SOUTH: Herschel Walker, Peyton Manning, & Tim Tebow!

Getting Tickets:
NORTH: 5 days before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus.
SOUTH: 5 months before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus, make a large financial contribution, and put name on a waiting list for tickets.

Parking:
NORTH: An hour before game time, the University opens the campus for game parking.
SOUTH: RVs sporting their school flags begin arriving on Wednesday for the weekend festivities. The really faithful arrive on Tuesday. Go Gators!
Game Day:
NORTH: A few students party in the dorm and watch ESPN on TV
SOUTH: Every student wakes up, has a beer for breakfast, and rushes over to where ESPN is broadcasting `Game Day Live’ to get on camera and wave to the idiots up north who wonder why ‘Game Day Live’ is never Broadcast from their campus.

Tailgating:
NORTH: Raw meat on a grill, beer with lime in it, listening to local radio station with truck tailgate down.
SOUTH: 30-foot custom pig-shaped smoker fires up at dawn. Cooking accompanied by live performance from the Dave Matthews Band… who comes over during breaks and asks for a hit off bottle of bourbon.

Getting to the Stadium:
NORTH: You ask ‘Where’s the stadium?’ When you find it, you walk right in.
SOUTH: When you’re near it, you’ll hear it. On game day it is the state’s third largest city.

Concessions:
NORTH: Drinks served in a paper cup, filled to the top with soda.
SOUTH : Drinks served in a plastic cup, with the home team’s mascot on it, filled less than half way with soda, to ensure enough room for bourbon.

When National Anthem is Played:
NORTH: Stands are less than half full, and less than half of them stand up.
SOUTH: 100,000 fans, all standing, sing along in perfect four-part harmony.

The Smell in the Air after the First Score:
NORTH: Nothing changes.
SOUTH: Fireworks, with a touch of bourbon.

Commentary (Male):
NORTH: ‘Nice play.’
SOUTH: ‘Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs.’
Commentary (Female):
NORTH: ‘My, this certainly is a violent sport. ‘
SOUTH: ‘Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs.’

Announcers:
NORTH: Neutral and paid.
SOUTH: Announcer harmonizes with the crowd in the fight song, with a tear in his eye because he is so proud of his team.

After the Game:
NORTH: The stadium is empty way before the game ends.
SOUTH: Another rack of ribs goes on the smoker, while somebody goes to the nearest package store for more bourbon, and planning begins for next week’s game.

Nothing else in the universe comes even halfway close to the glories of Southern football!

FT 420, could you stream Sun Sports' "Breakfast with the Gators" and "Gridiron Greats", if it doesn't clash with MLB games or other stuff you may want to stream (I guess no with "Breakfast") ?

Sure... I'll start ramping up the gator coverage since were getting near the start of late summer practices and pre-season prognostications. Go Gators!!

There is this really cool little TVUPlayer I bought for my iPhone. Not a great picture, but interesting to have available if needed or desired (or bored when out and about). It does require TVU broadcaster. Does anyone know a way to convert existing tvants and/or streamtorrent streams to mms? It has been awhile since I've played with this stuff, seems like VLC might do some of that. If so, TVU broadcaster accepts that format and I would be happy to broadcast a channel for TVUPlayers.

I've followed some of my own directions from last year. It helps to keep notes on this stuff

I've managed to take a tvants stream, direct it through VLC, and stream the output. The only problem is that when I stream it to an mms stream, TVU broadcaster times out on the stream. I will continue to play with this, it might be related to my firewall, but I don't think it is that.

I am able to use VLC stream to a file on my computer and then broadcast that file via TVU broadcaster. I can find my TVU station on my iphone and play the video this way. The problem is that this creates a huge file on my computer. I've made VLC transcode the bitrate to 128 and one half size. This helps, but after a few hours I will still have a huge file.

If anyone uses TVUPlayer for their iPhone/Blackberry/et al and/or you use the TVU website, you might find my test streams in the sports category and station name kaffeen. Right now I am broadcasting a movie (sorry sports fans, just a test right now). The lower bitrate and sizing really helps on the phones, very little dropped images/sound compared to full size bitrates.

In the meantime, if anyone can figure out how to take an existing stream (I am using tvants streams as testing) and convert that to a usable mms stream on TVU, let me know. I will also continue to play with this and see what I can get working.

I will redirect some existing Gator streams this season and see how it goes. Unless I can figure out the mms issue I will just need to upgrade my hard disk.

Just downloaded and tested StreamTorrrent. Works well for me, even if not as well as TVAnts.
I'm eager to watch the Gators devour the Buccaneers, the Troy Trojans, the Vols, the Bulldogs, the Tigers, the Wildcats, the Criminoles, etc... and the Crimson Tide in the SEC CG, and the USC Trojans in the BCS NCG ! (whether it is with TVAnts, Sopcast or StreamTorrent)

Goooooooooooo Gators Go!

I've not found a good solution for phone streaming yet. Still working on that. Not sure I can do anything good for the iPhone because Apple has that locked down pretty good with their own proprietary crap and Apple codecs. I love my iPhone but I have to admit I am tiring of their lockdown, even with my jailbroken phone there is no mainstream codec support. Orb is a nice alternative for my LAN, but not the solution for worldwide streaming to phones. I'm thinking about getting a Blackberry or Palm Pre, the iPhone is superior to those in every way except media streaming. C'est la vie.
