Empire Of Cricket - BBC - Series 1

    Episode 1 (England)

Series telling the story of cricket. The English invented cricket, created its rules and a whole moral code, and exported this elegant game to the wider British Empire. However, the English game was divided by class and held back by its own traditions. The programme explores the careers of great cricketers from Grace to Hobbs, Hutton to Illingworth, Botham to Pietersen, and shows how cricket in England has been influenced by historical and cultural factors.

    Episode 2 (West Indies)

The sport’s role in establishing a cohesive Caribbean society, one that helped heal the social and political divisions created by an apartheid-based system, and subsequently paved the way for the unified West Indian teams that dominated the game in the 1970s and 1980s. Following a 20-year period of sustained success, the Windies went into decline, a fall that even the presence of the great Brian Lara could not prevent. Includes interviews with Viv Richards, Garry Sobers, Clive Lloyd, Michael Holding, David Gower and Richie Benaud.

This episode looks at the Indian game, from its beginnings as the sport of the English colonisers to the riches and razzmatazz of today's Indian Premier League. The programme shows a country where cricket is the undisputed national sport, with deep connections to India's emergence as a nation through years of Empire, Partition and then Independence. Today, a brash new confidence on the cricket pitch reflects India's arrival as a super power in the world.

A huge thanks goes out to all you streamers. Without you (and Admin)... none of this is possible.

    Using VLC for SopCast streams
All SopCast streams can be viewed with VLC, but for some streams it is mandatory. VLC can also be a "quick fix" option worth trying if a stream buffers but won't load correctly.

    To use VLC...
    • Download VLC at VideoLAN - Free Software and Open Source video streaming solution for every OS! and install it.
    • Start the SopCast stream and let it buffer.
    • VLC, go to Open Network Stream, select "HTTP" option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (If port 8902 doesn't work, try 8912).
    • You MUST leave SopCast running; closing SopCast closes the stream.
    • You may need to mute the sound on SopCast so it doesn't bleed with the sound in VLC.
    • To make VLC a default external player on SopCast 3.0.1, visit this thread.
    • FOR TVU PLAYER YOU TYPE 127.0.0.1:8901 in the "HTTP" option

Using Windows Vista? Can't click on a link and load it?
    • Right-click on the link and select "Copy Shortcut".
    • Go to the SopCast address bar and paste the link.
    • OR, hover the mouse on the link, and the SopCast channel URL will appear in the browser status bar at the bottom of the URL. Type that URL into the SopCast address bar.

    Enjoy!

As far as the VLC thing is concerned once you have it streaming you can actually pause Sopcast and the stream will still work. As for getting the address - right-click on the Sopcast streaming window and select Properties. The address/port to put into VLC is shown there. The same can be done with ooxt and, I would imagine other streams as well.

    This is awesome!

I just want to thank I.LuV.ManUTd! for this great sticky thread. It's about time there was a decent thread for cricket every once a while!

Haven't checked out any Women's Cricket in years...anybody watch a match yet? Is it a little more competitive then it used to be? I remember it being rather slow with way too much spin...

Looks like ooxt has dropped another bollock. Theyve changed the player to the one used by spovd. It slaughters the upstream (for me at least) and you cant stream through vlc by the look of it. Why change something that isnt broke? Idiots.
