Episode 1 (England)
Series telling the story of cricket. The English invented cricket, created its rules and a whole moral code, and exported this elegant game to the wider British Empire. However, the English game was divided by class and held back by its own traditions. The programme explores the careers of great cricketers from Grace to Hobbs, Hutton to Illingworth, Botham to Pietersen, and shows how cricket in England has been influenced by historical and cultural factors.

Episode 2 (West Indies)
The sport’s role in establishing a cohesive Caribbean society, one that helped heal the social and political divisions created by an apartheid-based system, and subsequently paved the way for the unified West Indian teams that dominated the game in the 1970s and 1980s. Following a 20-year period of sustained success, the Windies went into decline, a fall that even the presence of the great Brian Lara could not prevent. Includes interviews with Viv Richards, Garry Sobers, Clive Lloyd, Michael Holding, David Gower and Richie Benaud.
