I have to admit, that definitely looked like it should've been a goal. But ultimately it's up to the guys up in the booth with the 50 different camera angles, so they must've seen something we didn't.
A similar thing happened in a Habs game a couple weeks ago where the net came off the ice just enough for the puck to squeeze under. On the first few looks it was a goal, but after seeing several more angles you could see what happened. It was a little more obvious than this, but who knows.
As I first saw that I thought it should have been of course no goal cause Auld saved it and the whistle has blown.
But in slomotion you could see that the puck was clearly over the goal line before the whistle! Why didnt they overrule it?
Or we can look at it this way, the Wings didn't score and that's always good![]()
Yea that's brutal. If the ref is trying to whistle the play dead, he should make sure he's on point and ready to do that, not wait three seconds after the puck is in the net. That is ridiculous in my opinion.
It's 100-percent goal. Referees like some teams. Not Detroit, not Washington.
I wanna know why the coaches don't have a little red flag they can throw on the ice if there is a bogus call they want to challenge. Then if they get it wrong it costs them the timeout![]()

I read this part :
Murphy agreed that the puck "does go into the net on the original shot," but having not spoken to LaRue yet he could only assume that the referee lost sight of the puck when it hit goalie Alex Auld's pad and that's where the intent to blow the whistle comes into play.
If thats the case wouldnt that of been a little 2 quick of a call lose sight, blow whistle.what about rebounds ...that is a grey area..I hate those type of calls..Ruins the game.
LOL drum.watch much football..good idea though![]()

Team Work Makes The Dream Work
Sorry I watched it with the sound off the first time, so I didn't realize it was a whistle issue, but it's not much different. There are guys up in the booth watching this frame by frame to make sure the puck crossed the line before the whistle. There was no way you could tell for certain from any of the angles they showed in this video.
It's really tough to fault the refs for anything here.
I like this part:
"In all cases we want to get the right call. In this case it appears we didn't," Murphy said. "But, I think sometimes when you have video review people expect perfection and that's never the case and we only let the fan down when they think it's going to be perfect. There are situations where video review can't intercede and we don't want it to intercede. I don't think you ever want video review refereeing a game.
The advent of instant replay killed sports a little. But I'd like to reiterate what I said. This call was not a problem it hurt the Wings![]()
A lot of great jokes in the hockey section lately but none of them beats this one.The best game in the world is going to the dogs...
Another thing that kills me is that the ref overruled the big boys in Toronto... that's pretty funny too!![]()
as much as i hate the wings, it should of been a goal, even if the ref has intentions of blowing the call dead, it was still a goal, doesn't matter if he lossed sight of the puck or not.
very bad decision , maybe they didnt know when the whistle was blown.
It cleary was a goal, but ... things like that happen sometimes....haha bad luck ^^
