Same ole Brett.
The Minnesota Viking fans found out last night what Packers fans have known and experienced for a long time...Brett Favre will get only so far this past decade, but never completely over the top.
Case in point, while with the Packers in the last decade he threw 5, 5 and 6 interceptions in playoff games, threw a criticle pic against Philly the Pack eventually lost, threw one two years ago in the NFC championship game against the Giants in overtime similar to the one he threw last night against the Saints.
His last three seasons with Green Bay he threww 62 interceptions, and then 22 while with the Jets. Packer fans loved Brett pre drama queen years, but the last four seasons in Green Bay, his retiring/unretiring act eventually wore out his welcome.
He had alienated himself in the locker room, refused to help young quarterbacks in the teams system, and had his own locker in a private room away from the rest of the team.
He was uncoachable, so Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy decided it was time to retire him, offering him 25 million over the next ten years to make three or four public appearances a year.
Brett refused to go quitely, holding the Packers for ransom and making a specticle of himself with a public fued with the Packers, who always tried to do right by him.
So now here he is throwing another interception in a big game, just as he had done the last eight years in GB.
In three years he will be reveered in Wisconsin once again, but for the time being he is thought of around these partsas a jerk, a prima dona and an over egotisitcal bastard. If he wouldn't have played the he said she game childish games he did publically with the Pack, telling one rediculous lie after another, all the things he did on the field would have been over looked, but instead it was always all about him, and for that Brett Favre, you have tarnished your image in the short term.
In the long term, people will come around and will always appreciate the dedication, the toughness and the incredible plays you laid out there on the field, putting GB back on the NFL map.
So I say thanks BRETT for all the memories, you are a one of a kind warrior. Now go retire, STFU, and let us all remember you the way we all wanted to in the first place., as a HOF quarterback who led us to a championship (although you blew three others not countong the Vikings).
Thanks Brett, now go home, and oh yeah, the 25 million offer the Pack showed you two years ago is off the table

all that drama aside: i think its pretty remarkable what he just did as a fourty year old. and i think its unfair just to take this last play in regulation and say "same old brett". he played great for pretty much the whole game, he played an INCREDIBLE season.
so my opinion: come back brett, you still got it. I'm not really a fan, but with him the vikes are at least interesting. i dont need another team in the middle of the pack without any hopes of greatness, we have enough of those.

Trust me I am not basing my opinion on one play. I have watched every snap Brett took with the Packers, saw him at Lambeau in person maybe 50 times, and dozens of practices.
Heck, I even have my own GB Packer show on the radio during the season. He is a warrior no doubt, and a Hall of Famer for sure. But I stand by my assesement in the thread starter

well I can't speak for the cheeseheads but IMO as a Viking fan I think Brett in going to be very over criticised for his performance last night. He was having a pretty good game last night (not his best but still good enough) up until that last pick. Even with for though I have to give (begrudging) credit to the Saints D. They ****ed Brett up last night (too much imo - should have a few more flags for roughing as well as plenty of holding that went unnoticed - saw plenty of times where Jared Allens shirt was nearly ripped off to stop him from smashing Brees from behind - not a good nigh tfor the Zebras)
Brett was hit so hard so often it helped force him to make 2 poor picks. Even for an old guy like Favre it was clear that thre was goos ground to make up with a rush on that last play but I am sure it was in the back of his head that he didn't want to get hit again. I have been critical of our lines protection in the latter stages of the season but I can't even fault them tonight as the hits were all after the ball was released. Can you imagine Brady being hit high and low like that? Its one rule for him and Peyton and another for everyone else!
Just look at Favres stats this year - we wouldn't have gotten to the championship without him! He has been awesome. Sure there have been downsides but you can forgive him because of how great he has been (2nd only behind Brees).
The reason he wasn't great for the Pack at the end was because - we your whole team was shit. Put him in a better team like ours (or even last years Jets to a certain extent) and watch him roll.
Unlike most I won't focus on his mistakes last night and neither will any true Vike! I'll focus on the fact that AP has fumbled all season and is actually becoming a liability, that our secondary isn't up to scratch, that we were playing an awesome team all around with the best QB in the NFL right now, that the Saints implemented their tactics brilliantly despite its dirtiness and I'll focus on some appalling decisions by the stripes! Our team needs to take a look at where we went wrong as a whole not just blaming it all on the guy who has been our star alll year!

You know shootfighter, not one time over the last two weeks did I ever mention the bad officiating in the game with the Cardinals. In overtime the third to last play of the game where Rodgers was hit helmet to helmet, yet no call. The last play of the game where Rodgers fumbled, but it was clearly a face mask, yet no call, I never uttered a negative word.
Bottom line, the Packers gave up 45 points defensesively, missed a FG in regulation and missed on a big play in over time. Same with your team, they turned it over how many times?? Twice in the redd zone for petes sake. Your team lost fair and square. They had their chances and didn't capitolize.
All Favre had to do was run it and maybe gain five to ten yards and kick a FG, game over. But being the over zealous dumbass he is, he made yet another in a long line of bone head mistakes. Now you got a taste of what Packer fans have endured this decade.
Grow a pair and just say the best team won. I did. It's better on your health. Less stress is best
