For all my fellow North Americans (that means you too, Canada!) this is black history month. It's a very important month to me, and a time for those of you who aren't as knowledgeable about the struggles of Africans during and post slavery to learn more about it. I hope some others are interested in this like I am.

I think Racism is slowly being weaned out of the world, dont get me wrong its still a big problem but the more we teach our kids about it and they teach their kids, in time it will be a thing of the past, look how much the world has progressed in 100 years

Is it a big problem in soccer (football) like people make it out to be? I hear it's pretty bad but I suspect it's a bit overblown.

It can be, in some country's . Eto'o (then Barcelona) has been booed, so much that the ref and all the players on both teams had to convince him to stay on the pitch. I also remember it happening once or twice in Italy.

I don't want to accuse/name specific clubs, cause it's always a few that ruin for the rest, but some clubs are known to have (some!!) racist supporters .

Worst incident imo was this, where Luis Aragones (then Spain NFT), was "trying to motivate" then Arsenal player Jose Reyes, by telling him what he thought of Reyes's then team mate Thierry Henry, before a friendly between Spain and France:

It will always float around in the game though, you cant prevent people from what they say...every now and again a new case will pop-up

I also significantly remember Shaun Wright-Phillips getting taunted in an away game at Spain quite a few years ago but the abuse has been cut back to a minimum in the top leagues

di canio@lazio rom was a very bad example, he always made fascist gestics to the fans and lazio is known as a club with many racist fans, thats no secret.

Racism is something that will never die out, you might remove it from work places and institutions, but Racism has been around since the beginning of time and will still exist in the end, unfortunately.

Take Britain for Example, first it was the Jews, then the Black people then the Asian people and now today it is the Muslims that are targeted world wide, a shame really for those narrow minded idiots who are racists in the world today...

Racism sadly is entrenched in our society and has been since the colonial days and will take a long time before it is stamped out. Racism is not just a black thing either but sadly there are still imbeciles in society thats can't recognise the different forms of racism.
