to use the myp2p links with sopcast 1.1.2 and vista, you MUST run sopcast with admininstrators privelages.to do this right click your sopcast icon and click properties, then click the compatibility tab, near the bottom privelage level tick the run as administrator box, then click apply, then click ok.THIS WILL ONLY HAVE TO BE DONE ONCE.

when you want to use a myp2p link,FIRST OPEN SOPCAST!then click the myp2p link you want and it should open the channel stream you have choose.

works for my vista home basic.hope it helps you!

also there is now a vista tcp/ip patch to change your half open connections here is the link http://defconoii.googlepages.com/vistapatch.zip

I installed it on both of my streaming PCs. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I did it just to do it anyway.

We'll see how the stream viewers respond to this as more and more start to download it and use it.

Give the man a cookie! This fixes my Sopcast problem!

Dunno why I didn't think of it before. It's the first thing to do really when you have problems.

And it should work on all Vista versions. I'm on Ultimate.

What exactly is a "half open" connection? I'm not certain if I need the patch for Vista.

it worked for a few minutes but now i get...

Connecting to Channel 0 ..........................................Cannot retreive data for all channels I try, what is the half open connection thing?

I have actually gotten 3 different errors:

Channel is offline: (dont think that is true)
    Cannot retreive data
Can not parse the url address

the account you are using then must not be an admin account.
YOU MUST USE THE NAMED ACCOUNT THAT HAS THE ADMIN RIGHTS FOR IT TO WORK!
and not a standard account that has no admin rights ie: you cannot change any crucial settings! and there WILL NOT BE AN ADMIN BOX TO CHECK!

the patch opens more half open tcpip connections(normally set between 2-10 connections on vista) and it speeds up peer 2 peer connections, buffer ect(helps both p2p streams and the use of torrent clients)
i now have mine set to 50 connections open which works fine for me on 2MB broadband.
you can tell if you require the patch by: in the RUN command type in eventvwr this will open a snap on window double click the warnings and look for warning 4226 if you have an exessive amounts of 4226 warnings then you will benefit from using the patch!
be-aware people who are using a tcp/ip patch of any sort, that sometimes when windows updates, this might reset your connections back to default(back to 2-10 connections)keep an eye on your 4226 warnings from time to time to make sure it has not been reset back to default by windows! if this does happen(never happened to me yet)just re-apply the patch.

I'm using Vista Home basic and i've installed sopcast 1.1.2.

i'm running it with administrator privelages, i open it first and then click the myp2p link, i've tried in and out of Win XP compatibility mode and still the same problem.

My problem is that the program opens and the channel loads, the sound streams normals, but the vid comes like a slideshow.

Has anyone experienced this? or know the solution?
