    With the new release (Since 2.0.4 and higher) it's easy to let Sopcast open with VLC. Very helpfull when you want to watch some specific channels which only allows VLC.

    How to do?;

    * Make sure to have the latest Sopcast, version 2.0.4 or 3.0.0 or 3.0.1
    * Download VLC:
    MAC OSX Download VLC media player for Mac OS X
    Windows Download VLC media player for Windows
    * Install it

    * Open Sopcast, and go to Options (at the bottom --> Option)
    * Choose the external player
    * Use my Own Player
    * Select there VLC.exe (tip: search for VLC on your pc --> in the map there you can select the VLC icon)

    Accept this, and restart Sopcast. Yet you can easy open it in the external VLC player. Start a channel, and then select the below button;

    Now it will open in VLC, every channel: click that button and you got it externally opened. Everything will work yet!

    Or, Open VLC --> Open Network stream --> Http --> 127.0.0.1:8902 and press ok. But sopcast should be running!

    Enjoy :D

    [When I click that button it plays in WMP which is ok however I would like to make it play in vlc. Im guessing I have to tell sopcast vlc is my default player? If yes, how?

    Edit- Its ok I worked it out. Sorry for a wasted post :)

    Hi. I have followed the instructions above to use VCL but the 'Select this button' remains greyed out. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

    it only works when you buffer is near 40% .. then you can click it, when a channel is loaded.

    On the screen there is a green bar which shows loading or communication 76% and the 'select this button is still greyed out. How do I know when the buffer has reached 40%?

    uninstall sopcast fully, remove all stuff ;

    Yes, that's 1 of the most commong Sopcast problems. You've got more instancies of sopcast installed then. Close your browser, uninstall Sopcast and make sure to remove the whole folder also. Then download the latest version, install again and it will work.

    Folks,

    After unistalling sopcast, grab registry crawler here http://downloads.pcworld.com/pub/new/utilities/regc.exe install it, and search for sopcast with it deleteing every entry.

    After you are sure it is been completely deleted. resinstall sopcast and you should be fine.

    don;t you see the green bar? if it's passed 40 or 50% you should be able to click the specific button to open with VLC...

    Hi first post,first of all can i just say,great site, great streams.Now onto my problem,when watching some of the streams on the older version of sopcast using vlc,my computer has closed and restarted several times by itself.Don't seem to have this problem when using the sopcast player,but then have trouble with the buffering speed.Has anyone else experienced this?
    I have now installed sopcast 2.0.4.and set the vlc player as my media player in the options as suggested,will this cure the computer shutting down problem,or is there another issue causing this.Thanks in advance,Bill

    I see the green bar and as I mentioned in my previous post the figure goes beyond 40 or 50% and the 'two square' icon is still greyed out. Any ideas why it is not working?

    There may be something deeply wrong with ur OS.

    I ll suggest a fresh reinstall but you may try the older sopcast instead of the new one. But if you keep getting application crash (on XP, I guess) its gotta be a malware or virus infection...

    Try ad-aware and hijack scan and post results here but if you got the time and dont want to bother with troubleshooting, just reload windows and i promise you ll be fine.

    I hope this works for me. Last nite i was struggling with Sopcast and tvants desperately trying to watch the game but sopcast kept crashing and Tvants kept showning popups instead of loading.
